HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE PROGRAM

Since amalgamation, the Township has participated in two local Hazardous Waste Programs; one that operates out of the Renfrew Landfill Site and the other that operates at the Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre.  Based on their location and former municipality, residents took their hazardous waste to one of the two sites.  Over the years though, the participation level in these programs has been low.

Beginning in 2005, an annual Mobile Hazardous Waste Event was introduced and held within the Township.  Once a year, residents can take their hazardous waste to the Mineview Garage where it is separated and transported away for processing.  Due to its close proximity for residents, this event has been well attended.

As a result, for the 2007 year, the Township will no longer be participating in the Hazardous Waste Programs operated by the Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre and the Renfrew Landfill Site.  Residents should no longer take their hazardous waste to these sites.  Instead, the Township will be establishing its own single Mobile Hazardous Waste Event.  Please watch the local newspapers, the municipal newsletter (included with the final tax bill) and this website for further information about this event once it has been scheduled.
