RECYCLING COLLECTION INFORMATION

In order to preserve and extend the life of the Township's landfill sites, the Township offers bi-weekly pickup of recyclables. Blue boxes must be placed at curbside on a publicly maintained road by 7:00a.m.

ITEMS TO RECYCLE
HOW TO RECYCLE IT
PLASTIC
Plastic bottles and jugs which have #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 on the bottom. Include beverage bottles, cleaners, windshield washer fluid and #5 squeezable bottles. Rinse or drain containers and discard caps.
Plastic tubs and lids such as margarine, yogurt, sour cream and ice cream containers. Will have #2 or #5 on the bottom. All plastic tubs and lids should be clean. Remove lids and place both loose inside the Blue Box.
Plastic film (including grocery, bread and milk bags) All bags should be placed inside a larger plastic bag.  Bags should be placed inside a large plastic film bag
GLASS
Food and beverage bottles and jars only.





Rinse the containers and remove caps and lids. Labels do not have to be removed.
METAL
Food and beverage cans. Rinse the cans - labels may be left on - cans do not have to be flattened. Place metal lids from cans and jars in the bottom of a can and pinch the top of the can to trap the lid inside.
 
Rigid foil containers, fast food trays and aluminum foil wrap. Make sure all items are clean.
 
Empty paint cans (up to 4 litre or 1 gallon size) Paint can should be empty - no liquid paint and no more than one-half cm (1/4 inch) of dried paint on the bottom. Place the empty can and lid loose in the blue box. Leave the label on the can and leave the lid off.
 
Aerosol Cans Make sure the aerosol can is empty. Place the empty can loose in the blue box. Spray nozzles and paper labels can be left on.
PAPER AND CARDBOARD
Newspaper, flyers, magazines, household envelopes, junk mail, catalogues, writing (bond) papers, and telephone directories. MUST BE PLACED IN A BAG.
Plain wrapping and tissue paper, greeting cards and paper cups/plates These items can be placed in a bag together with newspapers, junk mail and flyers
DO NOT INCLUDE CHRISTMAS PAPER OR WRAPPING PAPER WITH A PRINTED PATTERN
Corrugated cardboard, brown paper bags and dog & cat kraft food bags Flatten and empty the cardboard boxes and brown paper bags. Tie in bundles 65 cm x 65 cm x 20 cm (24" x 24" x 8") or smaller.
Box board such as cereal, cookie, cracker, tissue, detergent and shoe boxes. Includes paper egg cartons and rolls from paper towels and toilet paper.
 
Box board should be flattened and placed into bundles 65 cm x 65 cm x 20 cm (24" x 24" x 8") or placed inside a large boxboard container. DO NOT MIX BOXBOARD WITH CARDBOARD.
Office Mixed Paper
 
In clear plastic bags everything used in office
 
Milk/juice cartons and tetra packs (including drinking boxes) Rinse the cartons and place loose inside the blue box.
STYROFOAM
#6 Styrofoam - Includes egg cartons Make sure food and beverage items are clean. Other larger pieces of styrofoam should be cut into 10" sections
 
DO NOT INCLUDE:
  • Ceramics, mirrors, window glass, drinking glasses, Pyrex, light bulbs or dishes
  • Motor oil containers
  • Clothing
  • Pesticide and herbicide containers
  • Butter/candy/cigarette wrap, peel-off lids, foil chip bags, cardboard lids
  • Foil with paper or plastic lamination or items with food scraps or grease
  • Carbon and construction paper
  • Pocket novels & Hardcover Books
  • Bags which contained chemicals
DO NOT PUT RECYCLABLES IN PLASTIC GARBAGE BAGS OR GARBAGE CANS
