NOTICE TO RATEPAYERS Feb 8, 2010

The first installment of the 2010 Interim Tax bill (all properties) is due on February 26, 2010.  Payments can be made at the following locations:

Municipal Office, PO Box 40, 44 Main Street Cobden ON   K0J 1K0

NEW -  night deposit box located at front entrance

Bank of Nova Scotia – Cobden, Beachburg and Pembroke Branches

Arrangements have also been made with all major banks for telebanking.  We also accept post-dated cheques and Debit Cards.  Cheques should be made payable to the Township of Whitewater Region.

The Township also offers pre-authorized payment plans for the due dates or monthly payments. If any further information is required, please contact the Municipal Office at 613-646-2282.

Family Day - Monday, Feb 15 Feb 8, 2010

The Municipal Office will be closed Monday February 15, 2010 to observe family day and will re-Open Tuesday February 16, 2010.

Garbage pick for the week of February 15th will be delayed by one day.
Monday’s pick up will take place on Tuesday - Tuesday’s pick up will take place on Wednesday…etc. Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the Municipal office.

NOTICE - 2010 DOG LICENSES Feb 8, 2010

2010 Dog Licenses are now available at the Municipal Office located at 44 Main Street, Cobden.  Residents are reminded that all dogs residing in the Township must be licensed and registered with the Township.

An application for a dog license is available for download on this web site - CLICK HERE.

Please make cheque or money order payable to the “Township of Whitewater Region”.  Please do not send cash.

Landlords are requested to please notify any tenants.

Municipal Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

FEES:

For all sterilized dogs:
Before March 31, 2010        $15.00
After March 31, 2010          $22.00

For all unsterilized dogs:
Before March 31, 2010        $20.00
After March 31, 2010          $27.00

All licenses and registration shall expire on December 31, 2010.
Anyone not purchasing a tag may be charged under By-Law #01-09-45

WATER UPGRADES – OFFICIAL CEREMONY May 2, 2009

A ceremony was held on Friday, April 24th marking the official end of three water projects that began in 2000 and cost approximately $4.5 million. In attendance at the ceremony was MP Cheryl Gallant representing the Federal Government that contributed $677,157 towards the projects. A statement was read from the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Leona Dombrowsky – the Province of Ontario contributed approximately $1,500,398 towards the projects. Representatives from Robinson Consultants, Detra Contracting, members of Council and staff were also in attendance to celebrate the upgrades.

The Beachburg water upgrades consisted of control systems, spill containment and backflow prevention. The Cobden water upgrades included the installation of a new package filtration plant, chemical solution tanks and spill containment. The Haley water upgrades included a new well, a standby power generator and an addition to the Heather Street pump-house.

PHYSICIAN WAIT LIST April 14, 2009

The Township of Whitewater Region has joined the Upper Ottawa Valley Medical Recruitment Committee (UOVMRC) in a search for Family Physicians.  This group which consist of the City of Pembroke, Townships of Laurentian Valley, North Algona/ Wilberforce, Bonnechere Valley, the Township of Whitewater Region and the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan.

They have taken the lead in developing a process to track individuals who are without a family physician and wish to be on a waiting list for a family physician.

The form is for use by people living in the catchments area of the Upper Ottawa Valley Medical as listed above. If you are in search of a family physician please fill out the attached form

FIRE PERMITS REQUIRED March 23, 2009

This is a reminder that fire permits are required for open air burning from April 1st to October 31st.  Fire permits can be obtained free of charge from the Township Municipal Office in Cobden or from an appointed Fire Warden.  Further detailed information can be found on this website under Fire Department - Open Air Burning.

ANNUAL WATER REPORTS March 9, 2009

Residents of Cobden, Beachburg and Haley Townsite

Ontario Water Regulations 170/03 requires that annual reports for water systems be made available to the Public.  The annual reports for 2008 are available at the Whitewater Region Municipal Office during normal working hours at 44 Main Street, Cobden.

ANIMAL CONTROL April 26, 2008

Steve Fiegen, from the Township of Bonnechere Valley, is now performing Animal Control duties for the Township of Whitewater Region .

We will be informing him when we encounter any complaints of lost dogs that need to be picked up during the week and on weekends.

During a WEEKNIGHT or WEEKEND, you must contact Steve with your information and he will come get the lost dog if he feels that the dog CAN be captured.

PROPOSED ZONING BY-LAW June 20, 2005

The Township of Whitewater Region has been working on a new Township Zoning By-law to replace the Zoning By-laws of the former Township of Ross, the former Township of Westmeath, and the former Village of Cobden in order to provide a Zoning By-law for the entire Township, including the former Village of Beachburg.
