The Irish Canadians and the First World War To mark Remembrance Day, the Bromley Historical Society welcomes back Professor Mark McGowan to speak on his book, The Imperial Irish: The Irish Canadian and the First Word War. This free public presentation will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2pm, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 34 Pembroke Street, Cobden. Mark McGowan, a specialist in the religious, social, and immigration history of Canada and Ireland, is the author of seven award-winning books. He previously spoke for the historical society on the Great Famine. Copies of his book on the Irish and the First World War will be available to be purchased. Refreshment will be served following the presentation. Join us for a buffet dinner at the Mandarin Restaurant, then to Mrs. Doubtfire - The New Comedy Musical. Price is $160 per person and includes transportation, theatre ticket and show. Refunds are not available after payment/registration due date. Pickups: Spots are limited.
