Garbage and Recycling

The collection contractor collects curbside garbage and recycling at the same time.  Please refer to the Curbside Collection Schedule for recycling item schedule (comingled or fibre).

  • Two (2) bags of garbage, no heavier than 50 pounds each in regular bags can be placed curbside for collection each week.  Bags must be properly tied, unbroken.  It may be placed inside a can or receptacle
  • Garbage and Recycling must be placed at curbside on a publicly maintained road by 7:00 am.
  • There are no limits to recycling but material can be sorted and only contain accepted material for pick up every other week.
  • If you require more than 2 bags, you will be required to purchase Township issued yellow bags now $5 each.  They can be purchased at local retailers or at the municipal office:

Waste Management & Recycling for the Township includes the administration of a curbside garbage collection program as well as landfill site operations.

As of July 1, 2025, the recycling collection program in Whitewater Region will be managed by Circular Materials Ontario and their contractor Miller Waste. Miller Waste can be contacted about replacement bins, missed collection and any other recycling questions. Contact information for Miller Waste can be found below.

Recycling Curbside Collection

Please ensure you place your comingled container recyclables (plastic bottles, tubs & lids, glass bottles & jars and metal food & beverage cans) in their own blue box separate from your blue box for fiber recyclables (boxboard, papers, magazines, etc.). Don’t forget to bundle you’re cardboard and larger boxboard.

Styrofoam and Plastic Bags are considered a waste product.
