Transportation Master Plan

Project Description

The Transportation Master Plan (TMP) will provide a 'roadmap' for transportation planning needs over a ten-year period to 2033 in order to optimize the performance of existing infrastructure, identify areas where capacity is anticipated to be exceeded, and identify a sustainable approach to accommodating further development moving forward.  The TMP will review the existing transportation infrastructure within Whitewater Region including road networks, active transportation networks, sidewalks.

The Township of Whitewater Region has retained McIntosh Perry to undertake the development of the Township’s Transportation Master Plan. The plan will guide how the Township:

  • Develops roadways;
  • Coordinate infrastructure improvements with land uses;
  • Respond to future growth and demand on our transportation network.

The Township of Whitewater Region is undertaking its first TMP in parallel with the County of Renfrew’s TMP as well as the following municipality’s TMPs:

  • The Town of Arnprior;
  • The Township of Horton, and;
  • The Township of Bonnechere Valley.

Phases

The Transportation Master Plan has three phases that will follow the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) process:

  1. Assess the existing conditions, area context and specific challenges
  2. Assess traffic operations and road safety including:
    • Assess the Township’s transportation needs
    • Develop preferred solutions to meet those needs
    • Update existing policies and develop design standards to align with our goals
  3. Refine the preferred solutions and develop a comprehensive TMP document
